As you may know, the Indiana Affordable
Housing and Community Development Fund Advisory Committee
released
a
report (pdf)in June, 2006 highlighting the
success and accomplishments of the Fund to date as well as
making recommendations for a more effective affordable
housing trust fund. The Advisory Committee's primary
recommendation is to secure a dedicated revenue source for
the Development Fund. Although there are several revenue
options for the Development Fund, the most effective,
relative, germane and viable methods for Indiana would
require legislative action. Our Indiana Home is working with
Hoosiers throughout the state to raise awareness and
understanding not only about the importance of affordable
housing in Indiana, but also the importance of having
adequate revenue for the Indiana Affordable Housing and
Community Development Fund in order to carry out the
activities prescribed by it.
Development Fund Update
Our Indiana Home would like to extend much gratitude and
appreciation to all of our sponsors, partners, and endorsers
for all your support during the legislative session. Your
efforts resulted in a permanent source of revenue being
dedicated to the Indiana Affordable Housing and Community
Development Fund.
The Our Indiana Home partners recognize that despite the
Development Fund and other small victories for the housing
industry, there is still much public policy work needed
throughout Indiana to ensure that all Hoosiers have safe,
decent, and affordable housing.
As a result, Our Indiana Home has reconvened and is
continuing its public education and awareness campaign
throughout the state about the importance of safe, decent,
and affordable housing.
Our Indiana Home will continue to need grassroots support
from Our Indiana Home sponsors, partners, and endorsers from
throughout the state. We hope you will remain active in our
efforts. Please keep us up to date with exciting affordable
housing news from your local region. To contribute your
